The WaSP
mission statement is now oficially available in Portuguese. This is a
very important text for anyone looking to understand the importance and advantages
of the use of standards when building websites. It is high time the Portuguese
(and Portuguese speaking) web professionals paid attention to this reality.
Read it and tell me
what you think. If you know of Portuguese sites that adhere to the standards,
let me know and we'll talk about them.
The Web Standards Project is a grassroots coalition fighting for standards
that ensure simple, affordable access to web technologies for all.
Soon you'll be able to find here a series of articles on standards related
issues.

Project está finalmente online na versão portuguesa. Este texto
é muito importante para se perceber a importância e vantagens
do uso de standards na construção de sites. É altura
dos profissionais de web portugueses (e lusófonos) despertarem para
esta realidade. Leiam-no e digam-me
o que pensam. Se conhecem sites portugueses que obedecem aos standards
digam-me e vamos discuti-los e dar-lhes destaque.
O Web Standards Project é um grupo independente que se tem batido por
standards que assegurem a todos um acesso simples e a baixo custo às
tecnologias web.
Em breve encontrarão aqui uma série de artigos sobre assuntos
relacionados com os standards.
Terminou a Inforpor. Se algum profissional da web encontrou alguma informação util por lá, por favor avise-me, que eu adoraria saber. Parece-me que a feira nos esqueceu mais uma vez. Já agora, alguem viu a IBM, a Adobe, a Macromedia, a Oracle ou alguma das grandes? Eu não. Num certame em que o principal acontecimento, segundo os jornalistas, foi o lançamento do XP, está tudo dito. Até para o ano.

Today is the final day at Inforpor. It is supposed to be a big event. Hasn't been in recent years. I'm going anyway.
[PT] Hoje termina a Inforpor. Dizem que é um grande acontecimento, onde se reunem os melhores das TI. Não tem sido, há já alguns anos. Irei na mesma.

Structure? Content? Separation?
Webmonkey has a new article by WaSPs Steven Champeon. The
Secret Life of Markup is compulsory reading for anyone wanting to get
deeper into web development, or anyone looking for some knowledge in this
new reality. The future is already here, and not that many people have noticed.

excelente artigo de Steven Champeon, do WaSP. The
Secret Life of Markup é de leitura obrigatória para quem queira aprofundar
o conhecimento sobre o desenvolvimento para a web, ou para quem queira ter
uma noção desta nova realidade. O futuro já cá está, e pouca gente deu por
isso.

So here we are. I've just moved to a new hosting server, where the site can grow with new tools for our common joy. No frames, no cloaking, no hidden domains. The few $s a month will be worth it, I'm sure.
[PT] Cá estamos. Acabei de mudar para um servidor novo, onde o site poderá crescer com novas ferramentas para a nossa alegria comum. Sem frames, sem cloaking, sem domínios escondidos. Os poucos € por mês vão valer a pena.

I've had enough of free web servers. The service is not that good... go figure :-) While I migrate, there can be some access problems.
I'm reading an article by the guru of gurus, Peter Drucker, on the Information Revolution (and a paralel to the Industrial Revolution). It's always worth taking a look. Although it's from 1999, it still makes sense.
[PT] Já chega de servidores web gratuitos. O serviço não é tão bom... porque será? :-) Enquanto faço a migração, é de esperar alguns problemas se acesso ao site.
Estou a ler um artigo pelo guru dos gurus, Peter Drucker, sobre a Revolução da Informação (em comparação com a Revolução Industrial). Vale a pena ler. Mesmo sendo de 1999, ainda faz sentido.

My plans to go to the US this year, either to UICONF or Web Design World are gone with the wind. Maybe next year wil bring better tidings. Helas.
