Public restroom
Another nice weekend, lucky me! Went to the beach twice. Saw an old lady peeing with water to her ankles, in the sea. Standing up. What a sight... I won't be too graphical, there may be children reading this. The expression "human fountain" comes to mind. She could at least have gone a little deeper inside the water but no, she wasn't greedy, she shared the moment. Cleaning up was another sight in itself. *chap* *chap* *chap*, like at home, handfuls of water... Oh yes, and she had her bathing suit on all the time. All very proper. Can you hear the Twilight Zone soundtrack? I sure can :-)
Two days left until I have six days off!

Epic
What
a match! After 120 minutes, Portugal won, going through to the Semi-finals
of the European Championship. I must confess I wasn't very optimistic before
the game, but I grew confident as time passed. During the penalties, I sat
still and only moved after Ricardo scored the winning goal! It was a game
of epic proportions. England played a great match, and it wouldn't be a shock
had they won. Sorry boys, we'll see you next time. Now, let it be Holland,
another of my favourites.

Que jogão! Depois de 120 minutos, Portugal ganhou e passou às Meias-Finais do Campeonato da Europa. Devo confessar que não estava muito optimista antes do jogo, mas a confiança foi crescendo à medida que o tempo passava. Durante os penalties, já não me consegui mexer da cadeira, a não ser quando o Ricardo marcou o golo vencedor. Foi um jogo de proporções épicas. A Inglaterra jogou muito bem também, e não seria um choque muito grande se tivessem ganho. Desculpem rapazes, mas fica para a próxima. Agora, venha a Holanda, outra das minhas equipas favoritas.

Othello
Othello
is one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies. It is a story of lies, manipulation,
death, love, and deception. The performance by the company Cheek
by Jowl, considered one of the ten best in the world, was unforgettable.
The actors are brilliant. The modern production does credit to the text,
so it looks very natural. I really felt inside the play, and that's rare.
Afterwards, I had the privilege of getting to know some of the cast, what
added to an excellent evening in great company.
Beware of the Iagos around you.
IAGO: "But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve
For daws to peck at: I am not what I am"
IAGO: "How poor are they that have not patience!"
OTHELLO: She's, like a liar, gone to burning hell: 'Twas I that killed her

The play is on at CCB until Saturday and than goes to Porto (30 June - 3 July)

Otelo é uma das maiores tragédias de Shakespeare. É uma história de mentira, manipulação, morte, amor, e traições. O espectáculo, pela companhia Cheek by Jowl, considerada uma das 10 melhores do mundo, foi inesquecível. Os actores são brilhantes. A encenação moderna ajusta-se perfeitamente ao texto, tornando-se natural. A acção da peça poderia passar-se nos dias de hoje, tal a actualidade dos temas abordados. Há de haver sempre que possua os piores dos sentimentos. Depois da apresentação, tive o privilégio de conhecer alguns elementos da companhia, o que só acrescentou a uma excelente noite.
Cuidado com os Iagos à tua volta.
A peça fica no CCB até Sábado, e depois estará no Porto (30 Jun - 3 Jul)

Euro
2004
The European Cup is going well. No big trouble, and Portugal is in the Quarterfinals. We will play England, one of my favourite teams. What a game it will be. I won't see the final, if Portugal gets there. I'll be on a plane, returning from Copenhagen, where I'll spend 4 well-deserved days.

O Campeonato da Europa está a correr bem. sem grandes problemas. E Portugal está nos Quartos de Final, onde vai jogar com a Inglaterra, uma das minhas equipas favoritas. Que jogo vai ser! Não verei a final, mesmo que Portugal lá chegue. Estarei num avião, a voltar de Copenhaga, onde passarei 4 dias bem merecidos.

Saw lots of Football (Euro2004). Portugal lost to Greece 2-1, I'm disapointed

Voted for the European Elections (others will not decide for me), am happy
with the results :-)

Yea baby!
I will have four days off until Monday! Yeaa baby yeaaaahh! I'll be kickin' it in the Caribbean .... I wish. I'll stay around Lisbon, go to the beach a lot, rest, read a lot, go out for drinks with friends... be on Holiday, Celebration, Come together in every nation! Seems like I need it bad.
It is strange
Sousa Franco, ex member of government and head of Partido Socialista list for the European Elections died this morning. After confrontations between members of PS at a campaign activity, the politician suffered a heart attack, having later died. The campaign has been suspended. It is strange to look at the outdoor posters and still see his smiling face. It is strange thinking how it can be possible that members of the same party get involved in confrontations in the middle of an electoral campaign. It is strange that nowadays politicians can go so low with insults, making one want to leave the country, close the door and throw away the key. It is strange that I feel like voting blank. It is strange.

Morreu Sousa Franco, ex-ministro das Finanças e cabeça de lista do Partido Socialista para as eleições Europeias de Domingo. Depois de desacatos entre membros do PS na lota de Matosinhos, o dirigente sentiu-se mal, vindo depois a falecer, vitima de problemas cardíacos. A campanha eleitoral foi suspensa. É estranho olhar para a rua e ver os cartazes ainda com a sua cara sorridente. É estranho pensar como é possível haver desacatos entre membros de um mesmo partido em plena campanha eleitoral. É estranho que hoje em dia os políticos desçam a um nível tão baixo e insultuoso que só apetece sair do país, fechar a porta e deitar fora a chave. É estranho que me apeteça votar em branco. É estranho.
