ZelTheMan, standards, read on...
"My Web site is standard! And yours?" is an article I have found very useful as a first approach to the importance of web standards. From the Introducion: "Here you will find easy, painless techniques and ideas to improve your Web site quality and make your Web site valid. This document is intended for HTML users, developers working on Web applications, and Web masters". Read it and join the fight! :)
Jeffrey Zeldman has given an excellent interview to Brian Alvey of "Meet the Makers". On the first part of this conversation, Zeldman discusses web standards and his latest book, Designing with Web Standards. On the second part, he talks about his career, what it is like to publish an independent site, AListApart, and his first book, Taking your talent to the web.

Google me!
Google really is a phenomenon. It's even a new verb. Have you ever googled someone? I have, but I won't tell you about it right now. I'm sure I have been googled, but the problem is that there are a few more Pedro Mendes's around. I must take care of that! In the meantime, if you know German read this article. If you don't, read this one.

O Google é realmente um fenómeno. Já se tornou num novo verbo, pelo menos na língua inglesa (to google). "To google someone", ou "to be googled" está a entrar no vocabulário de muitos. Já o fizeram? A mim aposto que sim. O problema é que existem mais uns quantos Pedro Mendes por aí. Tenho de tratar do assunto! Entretanto, se souberem alemão leiam este artigo. Se souberem inglês, leiam este.

Alone in a crowd. That's just me. today.
On a much lighter none, my translation of Zeldman's article has been receiving great response. It shows that what he has to say really makes sense, and makes a difference. Thank you for sharing.

The Lisbon Book Fair is now open! Until the 15th of June, at Parque Eduardo VII, over 100 publishers have come together to sell books at discounts. This Fair is annual, this being its 73rd edition. If you like reading, go there! If you don't, go there anyway! The fair is more attractive this year and has more space. A temptation to me. Even in these difficult times, I couldn't help getting a book, and more will surely follow. The only thing missing is a wireless hotspot, so I can check the "book of the day" and the location of the publishers booths I want. If you're in Lisbon, don't miss it.
[PT] Já abriu a Feira do Livro de Lisboa! Até dia 15 de Junho, no Parque Eduardo VII, estão reunidas mais de 100 editoras com livros a preços reduzidos. Se gosta de ler, vá lá! Se não gosta, vá na mesma! A feira este ano está mais bonita e com mais espaço. Para mim é uma tentação. Mesmo com o esforço de contenção que tenho feito, já comprei um livro, e mais se seguirão. Só acho que os "cabeçudos" que por lá andam não estão a ter grande sucesso junto das crianças. Assisti a uma a chorar copiosamente, assustadíssima com a sua passagem! :) A única coisa que falta é um hotspot wireless, para poder saber quais os "Livros do dia" e encontrar facilmente os editores que procuro.

better late...
I just finished reviewing my translation of Zeldmans' article "99.9% of Websites Are Obsolete", and here it is for all Portuguese speaking readers. This is my way to celebrate the release of his new book "Designing with Web Standards". Zeldman has also put together a mini-site for his book, where you can find, among other things, two sample chapters. Read them, love them! Let me know what you think of the article.
