What a shame! (once more)
There aren't many words to describe the way the Portuguese Government is dealing with the "Women on Waves" situation. A government that goes against European Union Laws in such a way doesn't deserve to exist even one day longer. The Minister of Defenses' arguments are so ridicule and hypocrite I can't even repeat here (and don't want to). Is it possible that there is a war ship keeping watch to the Association's boat?!?!?!?! I can barely write it, so unreal it seems. I am ashamed to be living such days in my own country. I am ashamed to think that our former dictator (Dr Salazar) would deal with this in a more intelligent way (don't try to imitate him; those times are long gone now). This government must end now, before it ends us. Would anyone please have the balls necessary to do something? Socialist Party, would you please...? But spare me Dr Santana Light.
This is what you get when your government is ruled by people whose ideas are over 30 years old, and come for a way-right-wing-minority-almost-extinct party. I never thought the majority PDS would put up with this. But I guess not. PSD: please end this rotten colligation right now, and start once again sleeping at night with a clear conscience.
And all about a boat that came to Portugal to assist women desperate for help.
[PT] Que vergonha!

I hope it's a sunny weekend
So, another week flew by. It will be little over a month until I have my new appartment. Countdown is approaching. I've managed to get a lot of work done, and that is a great thing. I am going to collaborate with APDSI, an association for the development of the Information Society here in Portugal. More on this soon, as I enter a new workgroup.
I will try to catch some sun this weekend, and be with friends.
A big project is coming, that will change my life. More on that next week :)
So keep tuning in. And thank you for reading.

Giving ebay a try
Yes, today I have decided to give ebay a try. I have, over the years, read a lot about this web success. But the best way to see how something works is to try it. So, I put a book on auction there. Let's see how long it takes to sell. I will, of course, let you know about my experience. Here are the details of the book, in case you're interested
Title: Web Design on a Shoestring, by Carrie Bickner (2003)
This book teaches you how to build great web sites, with few resources and money. I bought it out of curiosity, knowing that, being a Web professional, I wouldn't learn only so much. But, if you're starting out, or need to get some fresh ideas, this book is for you. Very well written, in a light tone, it gives you valuable tips.
So, go and buy it. You'll have a very nice book, and I'll have an experience to write about. If it goes well, maybe I'll open a Web store.

A week at a time
Last week I was on holiday, at least from my day job. And that is a great thing. I managed not to think of work for a whole week! I have been sick and really needed some days off. I was too tired. Not that I stopped for long. Getting a new apartment is hell, and hopefully in a month all will be over, and I'll be enjoying cocktails with friends by the swimming pool! Next I'll have a real vacation: only rest, and read, and swim, and have fun. And to be away from Lisbon. Now, back to work. Hope you all are fine.
If you are a regular reader, please drop me a note and tell me what you think of my site.
